A two-man, two-woman Soul vocal group with substantial gospel influence and a penchant for recording soap-opera ballads dealing with adultery, the Soul Children were signed to Stax Records in the late '60s and first clicked on the soul charts with the multi-part single "The Sweeter He Is." Their biggest hit came in late 1974 with "I'll Be the Other Woman," which dented the pop Top 40.
This is the definitive collection of their 1968-1974 singles for Stax recorded in Memphis with the creme of the Stax staff of composers and sessioneers, including Isaac Hayes, Steve Cropper, Eddie Floyd, Michael Toles, Duck Dunn, Al Jackson Jr., and The Memphis Horns
