Highly recommended!
Called up by the Buena Vista Social Club executives to cover for the vacancy that was left by the great Rubén González, and requested specifically by the celebrated American pianist Herbie Hancock to share the stage with him when they were both on tour in Japan.
A nice set of Afro-accented Cuban jazz from pianist Roberto Fonseca! Roberto's piano is well out front of the combo, give the set just the right kind of jazzy sweep, without getting too swept up in the percussion. The core group includes sax, clarinet and flute by Javier Zalba, guitar by Elmer Ferrar, drums by Ruy Lopez-Nussa and percussion by Emilio del Monte Jr., plus a host of guest percussionists and choral vocalists.
