Review:
"Neither a throwback nor a dissertation in postmoder harmonic theory from a conventional hard bob quintet -trumpet and sax, piano, bass and drums. Rathers, they sound like a straight step foward, a bit fancier, a cleaner sound, but with all hard bop principles intact-led by the Art Blakey af the Canary Island. A MINUS" - Tom Hull Village Voice (New York).
"First change, and an important one, is that his own playing gains clarity, and with him the whole rhythm section, wich in the majority of the pieces functions as the driving force. From the first moment, you can perfectly appreciate the qualities of the drummers, the double bass, or electric bass player and of the excellent Medina.
Profusion of nuances and details. Diaz searches for atmospheres and creates environements, from wich always stems a certain restlessnes.
It's the incorporation of piano and Fender Rhodes wich constittutes the secondchance in Diaz's music." - Patrick Dalmace Jazz Hot (France).
" Prepare yourselves for high quality, dynamics, energy and dedication. In this record it's difficult to find anything to compalian about. It's comprehensive and easy to listen to. It has several interesting compositions as well as elegant and uncomplicated dynamics.
We hope to have the opportunity to hear the group live in the near future, but until that's possible, don't worry. Simply put the cd and enjoy. - Jorn Skousgaard Jazz Special (Denmark).
