Led by timbalero and güirero Osvaldo Chihuahua Martinez, this CD jams with Afro-Cuban flair. Born in Cuba, his first sight of New York was in 1959 as a member of José Fajardos Orchestra for an engagement at the Palladium. In the 60s Chihuahua took part in many significant recordings as a sideman with great jazz musicians of that period and played with everyone of note on the Latin American scene such as Ray Barretto and Cachao. During the year 1964 he formed a group under his own name, made up of all stars which enjoyed a considerable success, and two LPs were made. They are both complete on this one CD. Deep grooves and afro-cuban jazz improvisations.
