In 1959, Armstrong was at the peak of his fame, touring the world with his group and in full command of his trumpet. A serious heart attack in Spoleto, Italy, in October of that same year affected his blowing capacities, but he soon resumed his career, recording his last tunes only a few weeks before his death in 1971, at the age of 70.
This wonderful concert shows Satchmo in full spirit, playing and singing some of his greatest hits and displaying his overwhelming stage personality during a whole uninterrupted performance.
