From its very first notes, Jazz has been intimately linked with Dance. People danced, and still dance, behind the marching bands through the streets of New Orleans. In the cabaret clubs of Chicago during the 20s, people danced to the rhythm of the Charleston as well as other dances created by the jazz musicians.
In New York, the big dance hall, especially those in Harlem such as the Savoy Ballroom, attracted hundreds of couples whose dances changed with the rhythm of the great orchestras of the Swing era. Rock & Roll, the Twist, The Madison, Funk music, etc.., are nothing more than the different rhythms that have evolve through the creative talents of black musicians over the last few decades. Our intentions are to remain faithful to the original spirit of Jazz and for that reason the Locomotora Negra regularly plays in places where people are able to dance without restrictions. This record is an example of what the Locomotora Negra plays on such occasions: Jazz, in traditional Swing style, that is warm and straight to the point and whose purpose is an invitation to enjoy and dance.
