After a long period without new recordings available, Catalonian pianist Joan Monné comes back to the stores selves with a nice collection of standards. A right selected string of compositions by Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Benny Golson and Cole Porter, played in a fresh and fluid atmosphere. The trio combines virtuosity, some degree of innovation and a very special volume control based on the musicians empathy, Monné and drummer David Xirgu have been playing for more than 15 years. Really interesting.
