Everything within this album centres around Allsopp and Jay Davis relationships to people, personality, and places. This record has been gestating for a long time and the pieces within span across a decade. It’s only with the benefit of hindsight that I’m able to identify the common threads that link all this music together. In doing so, I have learned more about myself and the way that I view the world.
I would say that I am a pondering sort of person and a daydreamer. The compositions collated here are presentations of my musings on identity, the human spirit and our relationship with other beings both human and animal, and where we choose to be in the world; our sense of home and belonging.
I am so fortunate to have as band mates three incredible improvising musicians in Mike, James, and Huw. Their intrepid creativity provides the perfect alchemy in combination with the written notes that I have given them and their playing adds so much more depth to the music whilst also constantly surprising me.
I hope that listening to this record invokes some shared sentiment. Music is one of the great unifiers bringing us together, regardless of nationality, race, sexuality or gender and that is something that always should be celebrated.
