Las Hermanas Lago was considered as "The First All-Female Trio in Cuba and the Americas" and received such superlatives as "The Most Famous Trio of the Americas", "The Queens of the Melody", "The Most Applauded Voices of the Americas", "The Best Harmony Trio in Cuba"... among many others.
They sang classics from the Cuban songbook, as well as blues and traditional Latin American songs in the style of waltzes, bambucos, rancheras, tangos and other genres.
