Born in Italy, Giulia attended the Liceo Concervatory studing with Enric Ponsa, Mario Rossy and Horacio Fumero. In Paris, she studied privately with Francois Rabbath, and in the last few years in New York with Scott Colley and Ben Street.
In New York, Giulia has worked with musicians such as Jason Lindner, Jeff Williams, Ben Waltzer, Gerald Cleaver and John Mcneil. Giulia Has recently been featured on the discs of the groups Micamale, Lindner-Valle-Ayza and the John Mcneil Quartet. This is her first CD as a leader.
"An active musician in the Barcelona jazz scene, lady bassist Giulia Valle proves she is a formidable talent on her debut as a leader. Born in Italy, studied in Paris, and now a resident in New York, she delivers solid bass work and pronounced compositional skills. Leading an equipped and accomplished quintet that includes two saxophones, piano, and rhythm section, the her group produces thoughtful and catchy performances. Valle's extensive travel, musical education, and diverse experience are translated in her music in random tones from the lovely melodic opener Extraña Serenidad, rhythmic hypnotism of Sunrise, or the baroque richness of El Tragaluz. There's even a R&B Motown soul flavor on the closing piece 4 Your Love.."

Intermittently interesting album, but it runs into what's become one of my pet peeves: twin saxophone leads, almost always playing lines matched for harmonic effect. Valle plays bass and composed everything here but an Ornette Coleman tune. B
