David Quevedo learned piano as a child in his native Las Palmas de Gran
Canaria. His main interest was composition, so performed classical studies at conservatory while playing in a rock band in the early nineties. Also studied with few local jazz musicians and worked with lots of Canarian artists, when he listened to Oscar Petersons music and everything changed.
He moved to Barcelona in 2004. Here he has open jam sessions at different clubs and met enough musicians to decide joining his own quartet with Danish saxist Jeppe Rasmussen, Tom Warburton on bass and Dani Domínguez on drums. An heterogeneous vehicle of interplay that has help him to rescue some old tunes and a bunch of original ideas, which finally caught captured in the songs included here, the unpredictable melting pot of warm sounds that is his first album as a leader: Suite Macabra.
