At the beginning of 1952, after a short period leading an octet, Count Basie was able to rebuild a new and fantastic big band that never stopped playing for more than 30 years! This new band, known as The New Testament Band, recorded its first sessions for Norman Granz's Clef label. We present these dates in chronological order with their impressive Neal Hefti and Ernie Wilkins arrangement work and outstanding solos from Joe Newman, Henry Coker, Paul Quinichette and Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis.
