If you enjoyed (as I did) Laurie Johnson's genre-melding Symphony: Synthesis from all those years ago, then the broadly conceived, elegant and mellow, consonant yet questing Compañeros De Aventuras should offer considerable pleasure. With fine playing all round, seven richly orchestrated, dynamically engaging pieces from Esperanza and Garcimartin are complemented by their beautifully paced duo reading, with Garcimartin on tenor, of Coltrane's Central Park West.
