Nils Lindberg
The Swedish pianist and composer, Nils Lindberg, (June 11, 1933, Uppsala, Sweden – February 20, 2022), was known as a jazz composer and musician, but was also active in other styles. Several of his works are written in a style that combines elements of jazz, folk music and classical music. Lindberg was an excellent pianist, arranger and composer, and was always at the forefront of Swedish jazz.
Nils Lindberg was an expert at combining Swedish folk songs with jazz, wrote classical music (including for the Swedish Radio Symphony and the Hanover Symphony), appeared with the Duke Ellington Orchestra in October 1973, accompanied Judy Garland during a tour in Scandinavia and was the leader of the Stockholm School Music Big Band.
