Born in 1958 in Badalona, ​​Pere Soto is a jazz guitarist, composer, arranger, producer, master in new technologies applied to music, self-taught and one of the pioneers of the gypsy jazz style in Spain.

In 1982 he created the group Django's Castle, with whom he has been recording an album per year. He has performed both in Europe and America, playing with well-known jazzmen such as Dave Douglas, Dave Liebman, Ben Allison and Jeff Ballard, among others. His work has enjoyed recognition from RNE, which awarded his album Coincidències (1989) as best jazz album of the year in Catalonia, and from the Jazz South Federation (USA), which selected Metanoic (Pere Soto & Bill Gerhardt Quartet) best album of the month in 1992.

He has take part in the international circuit of renowned festivals, such as the North Sea Jazz Festival (with Big John Patton), in 1999, the San Francisco DjangoFest and the Los Angeles DjangoFest. Lately, his gypsy-style music has been chosen as the main soundtrack of the Honduran-American film A Place in the Caribbean, having a very important echo on HBO Latin, initially in the US and in South America, one of the most important distribution networks in the world. world.

Regarding his pedagogical side, he has been professor at the Taller de Músics, at the Vallès Musical Faculty Study Center (Sant Cugat del Vallès), at the Anglada School of Terrassa and has given master classes both in Spain, USA, Holland and Mexico. Recently he has been working with his own collection of teaching materials by publishing directly to Amazon. 

In 2018 he taught master classes at KU University in Kansas City and the Tijuana Jazz School in Mexico.
