Mario Rossy
Double bass player, composer and pedagogue (Barcelona, 1962). He is one of the most international and recognized jazz musicians in Spain. His style is characterized by his deep sound, the magnetism of his groove and his creative versatility, combining with mastery tradition and innovation, as well as being a brilliant soloist.
He studied with Ferran Sala, Álvaro Is, Ludwig Streicher and Ron Carter (City College of New York). He was a member of the classical music ensembles World Orchestra 1982, Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona (1983-1984) and Orquestra de Cambra del Teatre Lliure (1987-1992).
He has played and recorded with jazz giants such as Brad Mehldau, Jimmy Cobb, Tete Montoliu, Johnny Griffin, Wynton Marsalis, Paquito d'Rivera, Bebo Valdés, Larry Willis, Chris Cheek, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, Jeff Ballard, Horacio "El Negro", Sheila Jordan, Jordi Bonell, Perico Sambeat, Lluís...
