Born in Valencia. Arturo Serra had his training as a percussionist in the Conservatory of Valencia, with its formation and its first actions in classical music his beginnings in the world of jazz began as part of the Big Band Sedavi (Valencia).

He has studied with teachers like Gary Burton, Ed Saindon, Jerry Bergonzi, and David Santoro. He has taken part in masterclasses taught by musicians such as Mulgrew Miller, Pat Metheny, Barry Harris, Kenny Barron, Cedar Walton, Hal Galper, Steve Nelson, Frits Landesbergen, Bruce Barth, and Jim Snidero.

Serra has worked with internationally acclaimed musicians, like Jerry Bergonzi, Dave Santoro, Dick Oatts, Joe Magnarelli, Andrea Michelutti, as well as local jazzmen like Xavi Hinojosa, Ramon Prats, Deejay Foster, Marko Lohikari, Bori Albero, David Shepherd, John Galiardo, Pedro Cortejosa, Jose Carra, Ernesto Aurignac, Enrique Oliver, Francis Pose, Carlos Pino, Paco Charlin, Miquel Casany, Albert Palau, Perico Sambeat, Vicente Macian, David Pastor, Julián Sánchez, Celia Mur, etc.

Arturo Serra has participated in numerous national festivals. In 1993 he won the first prize in the Getxo Jazz Festival. From these years he has been involved with different band formats as well as leading his own group as quartet, quintet and sextet.

Serra has been teaching jazz improvisation throughout the Spanish territory. At present, he is professor at the Málaga Philarmonic orchestra.
