Born in Barcelona, saxophonist and clarinetist Esaie Cid began his career with the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra, a big band directed by Oriol Bordas, with whom he recorded and toured with Jesse Davis and Frank Wess.

Arrived in France in 2002, he founded the group Jazzpel, a jazz quintet with gospel influences with three albums to his credit. Established in Paris since 2005, Esaie Cid invests the French Jazz scene by multiplying his collaborations as a sideman with many musicians (Mourad Benhammou, Fabien Mary, Michel Pastre, François Laudet, Gilles Rea, Jean Pierre Derouard, Hugo Lippi...)

By this time he was already fronting his own band having his recording debut "Maybe Next Year" for the Fresh Sound Records subsidiary label Swing Alley.

So comfortable in a small group as being part of a large orchestra, he is a member of the “Michel Pastre Big Band”, and holds the first voice in the “Red Star Orchestra”, in the “François Laudet Big Band” and in the “Jean Pierre Derouard Swing Music BB”. He composes and arranges for the “Trocadéro Jazztet & Sisters”, and for the “François Laudet Quintet”. Also in demand internationally, he records and tours with Lisa Lindsley and Masatoshi Shoji.

All this activity is reflected in an abundant discography, and participation in many festivals (Jazz à Juan, Jazz in Montauban, Banlieues Bleues, Jazz sous les Pommiers, Rhino Jazz, Jazz in Saint-Germain des Prés, Festival de Montlouis, Enghien Jazz, Dima Jazz in Algeria, Saint-Louis in Senegal), as well as in the programming of Parisian clubs (Sunside / Sunset, Caveau de la Huchette, Autour de midi et minuit, Duc des Lombards, Petit Journal de Saint-Michel and Montparnasse...)

IN front of his quintet, his most recent and celebrated recordings pays tribute in two volumes to the classic compositions of Kay Swift, "The Kay Swift Songbook" also on the Swing Alley inprint.
