Etienne Déconfin
Etienne Déconfin was born in 1990 in Bourges, to musician parents, both passionate about jazz and classical music. He grew up in an intense and varied musical universe, which very naturally led him to begin studying classical piano at the age of 5. At 13, he stopped classical lessons and moved towards jazz, attracted by freedom and improvisation. He then immersed himself in musicians such as Bill Evans, Michel Petrucciani, Keith Jarrett, John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner and Oscar Peterson. He played in several jazz groups between 2003 and 2005.
In 2006, he met Géraud Portal, with whom he performed regularly. During the summer of 2007, he met the alto saxophonist Gaël Horellou, the bass player François Gallix and the tenor saxophonist Tony Pagano, whose pianist he was for three years.
