Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Nando immigrated to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music where he is currently a professor in the Piano Department. His extensive discography includes more than 14 CDs for various labels as well as independent releases. His recordings features the likes of Esperanza Spalding, Jerry Bergonzi, Jeff Ballard, George Garzone, Richie Barshay, Antonio Serrano. He has performed in theaters and halls worldwide such as Wang Center, Kimmel Center for the Arts, Smithsonian, Jordan Hall, Teatro Opera (Bs As), Roy E. Disney Center for the Arts, etc.

As a producer, he was responsible for Katie Viqueira's “Amores torcidos” and “El otro lado” and Teresa Ines's “Ave Rara” for which he was Musical Director and occasional arranger. Nando is also featured on CDs by US-based Brazilian saxophonist Felipe Salles, Iranian violinist Layth Sidiq, and Uruguayan composer Nacho Gonzalez.

Some renowned musicians with whom he shared stage are John Patitucci, Eddie Gomez, Jerry Bergonzi, Randy Brecker, Jeff Ballard, Anat Cohen, George Garzone, Antonio Sanchez, Chico Pinheiro, Dave Liebman and with MPB leaders, Jair Rodrigues, Celso Adolfo, Jamelão, Lô Borges, Geraldo Azevedo, Flavio Venturini.

As educator, Nando Michelín he currently works at Berklee College of Music, as well as Tufts University and the Longy School of Music, and has taught clinics in Barcelona, ​​Montevideo, São Paulo, Venezuela, South Africa, Mexico, Colombia, and throughout the United States.
