Art Farmer-Benny Golson Jazztet
This group, formed in 1959, was co-led by Benny Golson and Art Farmer, with McCoy Tyner on piano and Curtis Fuller on trombone. It survived until 1962 in its first incarnation, then resurfaced in 1985 with Farmer and Golson once again at the helm. The group was famous for nicely structured, precise yet soulful pieces and a swinging style. Both Golson and Farmer played without excess, yet retained energy and impact.
