Born in Barcelona, Spain, started playing drums at the age of 7 and began taking lessons at 11. He also plays percussion instruments, like vibraphone, marimba, cajón and indian tabla.

Marc studied at the Escola de Música Zeleste de Barcelona (CDMBR) from 1980 to 1984; at Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona from 1982 to 1989; at Taller de Músics de Barcelona from 1984 to 1990 and at Berklee College of Music, Boston, from 1990 to 1993.

He has performed with musicians like Pat Metheny, Gary Burton, Wynton Marsalis, Steve Lacy, Paquito D’Rivera, Tete Montoliu, Art Farmer, George Garzone, Joshua Redman, Jerry Bergonzi, Perico Sambeat, Gerardo Núñez, Chano Domínguez, Lee Konitz, and Mark Turner, among others in the five different continents: Europa, North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

He has recorded over 60 CDs with a variety of artists in Spain, Canada, Hungary and USA including his first CD as a leader 'New York Flamenco Reunion' (Nuevos Medios, 15774) and 'Flamenco Reunion' (Contrabaix-Karonte 2013). Marc Miralta Quartet 'Dreams' with original compositions by Marc. He is the coleader of OAM Trio with Aaron Goldberg and Omer Avital with 4 CDs recorded and CMS TRIO with Javier Colina and Perico Sambeat with 3 CDs recorded.

He has played classical music with the European Community Youth Orchestra, conducted by Claudio Abbado, the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona , Orquestra Sinfònica del Vallès and music for contemporary dance and for theatre performances.

He taught at the Taller de Músics de Barcelona from 1986 to 1990, and has given drum clinics in San Sebastian, Cádiz, Valencia, Granollers (Barcelona), Langnau (Switzerland), Rousse (Bulgary), Sevilla, Amsterdam, Lisboa, etc...

He has been teaching drums, vibes and ensemble at Conservatori Superior del Liceu de Barcelona since 2005.

In 1985 he won the Best Instrumentalist Award, and Best Band with 2x2 Quartet at Manresa Jazz Festival (Barcelona). In 1986 he was awarded the second prize with Roda de Saxos at the International Jazz Festival of San Sebastián. In 1988 he won second prize with Iñaki Salvador Trio at the Jazz Competition in Getxo (Bilbao). In 1991 was given the Best Percussion Performer Award at Berklee College of Music, and in 1992 the Most Active Performer Award, at the same college.
