Born in Carmelo, Uruguay, this pianist quickly rose through the ranks of the music scene Montevideo. It is after moving to this city that he came in contact with the jazz world for the first time playing with the prestigious cuban saxophonist Nicolas Reynoso, leader of the famous Cuban group 'Afrocuba'.In 1994, he was awarded a scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and it is at this prestigious institution that, in addition to attending private classes with Charlie Banacos, he studies exclusively until 1996.Returning to Uruguay in 1997, he took part in musical projects with players as diverse as Nicolás Reinoso, Osvaldo Fatorusso, Héctor Bingert, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Facundo Bergalli, Ricardo Cavalli and Chico Novarro and toured throughout Argentina, Brasil and Europe, performing in important festivals with the Meier Group (Montreaux Jazz Festival, Jazz in Vienne, Joan Les Pins Jazz Festival).Now a firm resident in Barcelona, his professional accolades include participation as a pianist with Marcelo Mercadante and his "Quinteto Porteño", Raynald Colom Quintet, Marc Ayza Quartet, Alfonso Carrascosa's "Segundo Conclave" (Latin jazz), Big Band Jazz Terrassa as well as numerous collaborations with artists like Horacio Fumero, Michael Phillipe Mossman, Iñaki Ascunze, Mayte Martin, John Nugent.In the early part of 2001 he established his own group, Repique, comprised of three important Spanish jazz musicians: Gorka Benítez, Aldo Caviglia y Rai Ferrer - together they explore the fusion between the pianist's roots and jazz producing original musical results which could be categorised as "Southamerican Jazz".
