Humberto Cané was the son of the founder of the Sonora Matancera Valentín Cané. He joined his father band playing tres and went on to lay down vocals on the guaracha "Gozando bailando" (TCD-114). In 1946, he went to México and learned to play bass. In 1952, he joined up with the Cuban singer Aurelio "Yeyo" Estrada. Without doubt, the Yeyo and Cané group was one of the most influential tropical music group in México and one of the most forgotten over the years.
